Our story apparently begins at some ward party at the beginning of the school year, although, sadly, I have no recollection of ever meeting Zach at this party or giving him my phone number. However I do remember going to the Gateway fountain with him, and thinking he seemed really fun and cute. But I was determined not to get involved with any one person, just date around.
Occasionally Zach would text me, and would always be really funny, but then he’d ask me to go bowling with him! And I did not want to go bowling. I really don’t know why… haha. It seems ridiculous huh? But finally we went on an actual date, the “ABC” date. It was so much fun! Although I could tell he was really nervous, and I was of course nervous too. I remember while we were watching Harry Potter he said that we HAD to cuddle because we were sitting in the cuddle corner, and I felt soo awkward about that. So I’m sure we looked hilarious, what with him being all cuddly and me sitting straight up folding my arms…
But Zach, being the ladies man that he is, constructed this date so that it would have to be spread out over the course of several dates. And they were all awesome. But I didn’t see Zach as anything more than a friend, whereas apparently he liked me. I was just enjoying the fun times and free food from like 3 different guys… I guess he didn’t like that so he stopped talking to me altogether. I’m sad to say that I didn’t really notice though.
However, over winter break I stalked his life on Facebook and discovered that he had a girlfriend. That for some reason made me jealous, and kind of sparked a hint of liking him. But I ignored it because he was taken. Yet just a week or so later he texted me asking what was up and we started talking again. And I stalked his life again and discovered he was single! The next day Kelsey (my favorite roommate) and I decided to spontaneously go on a road trip to southern Utah with her boyfriend and another man of my choosing. Zach was my number one choice so I texted him right away but he said he couldn’t come. So then I guess Kelsey texted him, trying to convince him to come by saying that this was his chance to get me to like him and all this stuff. And he agreed to come!
That weekend was definitely one of the best of my life! We just explored and had a blast the entire time. Zach was really sweet and as adventurous as I was so I thought that was pretty awesome. But I still didn’t like him as more than a friend. Everyday Kelsey would ask, “Do you like Zach yet?” but I just didn’t feel anything. Then one night we were watching a movie at my house and cuddling (I was starting to like him :) and it just hit me that I did like him! So of course like halfway through the movie I got butterflies and felt all nervous around him which was thoroughly obnoxious, but good at the same time. He had to leave for a while that night though and so I ran upstairs and burst into Kelsey’s room exclaiming that I liked Zach and asking if she had any gum!
The next day he came to Marriage Prep with me ;) and then we hung out all day. Apparently I was being extra flirtatious and that totally threw him for a loop. Then we took a nap, although we mostly just talked and Kelsey barged in and asked if we were dating yet and that’s when Zach turned to me and half-jokingly asked me to be his girlfriend. I replied yes and he appeared to be quite taken aback and asked, “wait, really?!” Haha cutest boy I know.
We’ve been happily dating ever since, and will be together for eternity :)
